Latest newsletter: More bright ideas
Since we celebrated our 25th anniversary in 2015, we have continued to have lots of bright ideas and produce work of which we are proud. Above all, we have stuck to our founding principles:
-
Our clients always deal with Caroline Cecil and our highly experienced communications principals.
-
We provide communications advice at boardroom level – and the same team rolls up its sleeves to put plans into action, working with clients to manage their reputations through good times and over the bumps along the road.
-
We aim to speak plainly and write clearly.
-
We do what we promise to do, and we do it when we say we will.
-
We are highly discreet – and often find ourselves working for clients that we cannot name.
Here are some examples of recent work we have done for those we can name.

Graphite Capital
Among varied projects for our mid-market private equity client, Graphite Capital, we provided communications advice on a number of transactions. These included the sale of Micheldever Tyre Services and the acquisitions of pub/restaurant business New World Trading Company and global medical animation producer Random42.
We have also helped edit Graphite’s new website; given presentation training to the firm’s executives; and advised a number of its portfolio companies on a variety of issues in our capacity as Graphite’s marketing communications and media relations adviser.
“We suit each other. We are approached frequently by a lot of firms but we can rely on Caroline Cecil Associates. We have been dealing with the same people for many years and they are extremely reliable in their support and advice.”

Beechbrook Capital
It has been a busy time for Beechbrook Capital, which provides debt and equity capital to small and medium-sized businesses in northern and western Europe. It has opened a new office in Manchester and completed its 50th investment while investing its two debt funds and raising another.
We advise the firm on its corporate identity, website, communications, media relations and investor presentations. Our work has helped ensure its founding partners are now recognised commentators in their field.
“We are delighted with the way our work with CCA has increased our profile. The team’s pragmatic advice on how we tackle our communications has helped us maximise the opportunities while making the most of our scarcest resource – our time.”

Hiscox
We have continued to work with specialist insurer Hiscox to develop the company’s thought leadership in the small business arena. The annual Hiscox ‘DNA of an Entrepreneur’ report, covering 4,000 companies across Europe and the USA, is now in its ninth year. We are involved at every stage, from commissioning the research and writing the report to briefing the spokespeople and handling media relations.
The substantial study, which receives widespread coverage internationally, has seen Hiscox emerge as an authoritative voice on the issues facing this key business sector. We also work with Hiscox to devise and produce its international ‘Cyber Readiness’ report – now in its second year - which looks at how businesses are coping with the growing cyber security challenge.
“You’ve been a massive help owning things and driving them forward.”

Bowmark Capital
As the communications adviser to the mid-market private equity firm, Bowmark Capital, we advised on the £340 million sale of Autodata, Europe’s leading provider of technical information to the automotive aftermarket, to Solera Holdings, Inc. Autodata was owned jointly with Five Arrows Principal Investments, the private equity business of Rothschild Merchant Banking.
We also worked on two substantial mergers:
- Aston Scott and Lark Group to create one of the UK’s top 20 independent commercial insurance brokers and employee benefits practices, and
- Leaders and Romans to create a market-leading property services group with more than 140 branches across the UK.
“The coverage has been excellent and the whole project has been a real success, in large part due to you and the team.”
